BIOGRAPHY

Cherise James fell in love with performing at the young age of twelve, when singing, dancing, and acting in front of her family members and stuffed animals was all she knew.  Her interest in theatre peaked when she got accepted into the magnet program at Norland Middle in Miami, Florida.  There, she got the opportunity to receive intensive training in the performing arts, performing with her classmates and competing in various theatre competitions.  After completing middle school, Ms. James was accepted into the prestigious magnet program at Miami Northwestern Senior High, the Performing and Visual Arts Center (PAVAC) Program.  There she received the opportunity to travel and work with various internships to gain the experience needed as a performing artist, allowing her to be later accepted into the BFA Acting program at University of Central Florida.  Ms. James completed her BFA in Acting at UCF, graduating with professional training and experience under her belt, ready to brand herself as a well-rounded artist in the professional world!

Ms. James began to build her resume within different cities like Orlando, Miami, Lakeland, Tampa, Melbourne, Gainesville, and Atlanta. She had been featured in musicals, plays, original works, readings, and even film and TV opportunities.  She choreographed for productions such as Snow White, Jungle Book, Hercules, Wicked, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Tarzan.  While at UCF, she was one of the movement directors for the production Antigone.  She was a part of the UCF Hip Hop dance crew, RUKUS during her first years of college.  She has also been featured in Benny’s Burlesque at Arts Garage Theatre.

She started to develop a name for herself, working as an actor, singer, and dancer, and soon became a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association.

She then moved to the New York area to further her career, there she auditioned for Broadway shows and had been featured in various workshops for new and original works. She even cultivated her gift as a playwright, creating a play and producing it as a one-woman show, which made its debut in NYC!
